June 18th - 21st

#1 Under the Sea

10:30 - 12:30

Put on your favorite swimsuit and faithful scuba gear! Now picture yourself in the deep blue sea swimming among fish of many shapes, coral of odd texture and, jellyfish of iridescent colors.  On this 16”x20” canvas we combine your photographic portrait with collage and acrylic painting as a record of your day exploring an imaginary water wonderland!

June 18th - 21st

#2 Silly Bird Sculpture

2:00 - 4:00

Imagine a medium sized but colorful bird that comes to perch in your backyard. Its body is colored like a parade float, has an odd shaped tail with lots of feathers and has really, really skinny legs. We will create this fond feathered friend from recycled objects, plaster, foam, wire and you will paint it with a rainbow of paint colors.

June 25th - 28th

#3 Blue Dog Travels inspired by George Rodrigue

10:30 - 12:30

The ever popular Blue Dog, inspired by Louisiana artist George Rodrigue, is on yet another big adventure!  Take out a map and choose where he will travel to next, what he needs to bring along and what he needs to wear for the trip. Should he prepare for outer space, the wild west, or just for visiting friends at the North Pole? This acrylic painting and collage project on 16"x20" canvas is a returning favorite!

   June 25th - 28th

#4 Koi Pond and Pagoda

2:00 - 4:00

This is your opportunity to design a model of your own miniature garden! In your artwork you may choose to include a waterfall, an island, a tiny footbridge, rose gardens or even a secret pathway. You will then paint a traditional Pagoda that overlooks the Koi swimming among floating lily pads. Each element of your garden is created through a combination of drawing, acrylic painting, collage and sculpting and will be on two canvases.

July 9th - 12th

#5 Vase of Zinnias inspired by Clementine Hunter

10:30 - 12:30

Louisiana artist Clementine Hunter becomes the inspiration for our beautiful vase of zinnias! We will create 3-D images of the primitive, colorful, full flowers she is known for by using a variety of processes and materials that include drawing, painting, and collage on a 16"x20" canvas. You will then complete the still life with layers of cloth, buttons and simple sewing.

July 9th - 12th

#6 Lite and Fancy Landscape inspired by Karla Gerard

2:00 - 4:00

The wind blows through the make-believe purple calico trees. Acrylic painted rolling hills of polka dots and flowerbeds of swirling plants surround the tiny felt houses on the 16”x20” canvas. Shape, pattern, line and color, inspired by the amazing work of Karla Gerard, will be explored.  Now stitch the yellow roof with lime green floss and invite friends to a block party!

July 23rd - 26th

#7 Here Kitty Kitty inspired by Heather Galler

10:30 - 12:30

“My paintings are happy and make you feel alive and good” says artist Heather Galler. With bright colors, repeated patterns and a funky, familiar feline shape we will create an acrylic painting that brings a smile to your face.  Then you will use your imagination to add individual characteristics and personal touches to your 16"x20" cat canvas.

July 23rd - 26th

#8  Cow Skull on Patterned Blanket inspired by Georgia O'Keeffe

2:00 - 4:00

Artist Georgia O'Keeffe was well known for her love of natural forms, simplified desert scenes and rich southwest design. We invite you to discover the lovely patterns and the warm colors of the traditional blankets of the southwest. You will create your own rendition of a fringed blanket and attach a collage of a cow skull to the painting similar to her famous artwork.
